Pogradec (pop. 15,000) is situated in the eastern part of Albania on the shore of Lake Ohrid and at the frontier with Macedonia. It is a long-established holiday resort. On a mountain to the north-west of the town have been found remains of ancient fortifications which testify to the occupation of the region between the 5th century BC and the 7th century AD. In the present-day village of Selce e Poshtme are traces of an ancient city, perhaps Pelion, and in the village of Lin has been found an early Byzantine basilica

Basilica of Lin

The basilica of Lin was built around the end of the 5th century/beginning of the 6th as the church of the summer residence of the bishop of Lychnis. It has a coloured floor-mosaic depicting religious symbols
